Theresa
Marie (O’Laughlin) Moran, 78, has gone to be with the Lord
and with her husband. She passed away from pneumonia, surrounded
by children and grandchildren. The second youngest of 16 children,
“Terry,” as friends and family called her, was a vibrant,
active woman who rescued orphaned wild birds and other critters,
including occasionally even humans.
She
was a loving foster mother and a spirited competitor winning trophies
in both golf and bowling, which her proud husband kept carefully
dusted. And into her last days, she could still give those she
loved “schmutzels” (aka kisses.)
Her greatest gifts to her children were her Irish wit, her strong
sense of justice and integrity, and unforgettable recipes (particularly
for apple pie, strawberry preserves, and cream of potato soup,
which unfortunately she has taken with her.) Perhaps her finest
recipe was the one she crafted for life. It was rich in flavor,
served many, and was created from the heart. Her family longs
for one more helping. |
